Inclusion of YABs in MWC Leadership Group Session

Inclusion of YABs in MWC Leadership

In May 2025, I proposed the inclusion of young Anabaptist delegates in the Mennonite World Conference General Council, advocating for a stronger youth voice in the global decision-making process. While the proposal was ultimately suspended to be revisited at the next General Council meeting in 2028, it reflected my ongoing commitment to intergenerational dialogue and leadership development within the church.

I emphasized that engaging young leaders in formal governance would not only nurture their sense of ownership and responsibility but also bring fresh perspectives, creativity, and energy to MWC's mission. This initiative highlighted the importance of integrating emerging voices into the structures of global Anabaptist leadership, setting a foundation for a more inclusive and forward-looking community.

YABs Mentor 2022-2028

As the Young Anabaptists (YABs) Mentor for Mennonite World Conference, I play a vital role in guiding and supporting young leaders from across the globe as they engage in the life and mission of the worldwide Anabaptist communion. I accompany the YABs Committee—composed of representatives from each continent—helping them discern their vision, strengthen their leadership skills, and connect their local contexts to the global church.

Through mentorship, strategic planning, and cross-cultural dialogue, I help empower a new generation of Anabaptist leaders to live out values of peace, service, and community. My work includes coordinating global initiatives like the Global Youth Summit, facilitating communication between the YABs and MWC senior leadership, and nurturing intergenerational relationships that sustain the global Anabaptist movement.

In May 2025, I served as part of the staff team for the historic 500th Anniversary of Anabaptism held in Zurich, Switzerland. In this significant global commemoration, I contributed my technical and creative skills by managing the event website and developing much of the printed materials used throughout the celebration.

My work included designing the official Zurich city map for participants and producing the program books that guided attendees through the multi-day events, workshops, and worship gatherings. Through my attention to detail and commitment to excellence, I helped ensure that the anniversary was both meaningful and well-organized—honoring the legacy of the Anabaptist movement while celebrating its ongoing witness in the world today.

During the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Mennonite World Conference, I served as one of the key interviewers, engaging with participants, leaders, and longtime members to capture the stories, experiences, and reflections of the global Anabaptist community. In this role, I facilitated conversations that highlighted the historical journey, spiritual milestones, and communal achievements of MWC over the past century.

Through thoughtful questioning and attentive listening, I helped document these narratives for archival purposes and broader sharing, ensuring that the voices of diverse generations and regions were represented. My work not only preserved the rich legacy of MWC but also brought the anniversary celebration to life by connecting past experiences with the vision and hopes for the church's future.

YAMEN Program Liaison Presentation and Workshop

YAMEN Program Liaison for MWC

As the Liaison Officer of Mennonite World Conference (MWC) to the YAMEN program—a joint initiative between MWC and Mennonite Central Committee (MCC)—I serve as the key connector and overseer of this global service and exchange program for young adults. My role focuses on strengthening collaboration between the two organizations and ensuring that the program effectively supports participants, particularly those from the Global South.

I provide guidance and pastoral care to YAMEN participants, helping them navigate cross-cultural experiences and integrate their service with spiritual growth and leadership development. Through my coordination and advocacy, I help create meaningful opportunities for young people to serve in diverse communities, fostering global solidarity, mutual learning, and a deeper understanding of what it means to follow Christ across cultures.

Plenary Speaker Indonesia 2022

During the Mennonite World Conference (MWC) Assembly in 2022, held in Indonesia, I had the honor of serving as one of the plenary speakers, representing the voices and experiences of young Anabaptists from around the world. In my plenary talk, I invited the global Anabaptist family to recognize that "in times of trouble... we are the extension of God's hands"—emphasizing that the church is called not only to stand together, but to serve together across barriers.

I spoke of the challenges faced by young Anabaptists amid pandemic, conflict, and cultural divides, urging them to embrace solidarity, healing, and mutual support within the global communion. My message called for renewed inter-generational listening and shared leadership, stressing that unity is built not by uniformity but by the diverse body of Christ serving one another.

From 2020 to 2022, in the midst of the global pandemic, I served as part of the Registration Team for the Mennonite World Conference (MWC) Assembly held in Indonesia in 2022. My primary role focused on website and materials development, where I collaborated with Cvent, an event management company, to design and build the official registration website for the global gathering.

Beyond the digital aspect, I also developed the printed materials used throughout the Assembly, ensuring that both in-person and online participants had a smooth and engaging experience. To fully support the event's preparations, I lived in Indonesia for six months, working closely with the local and international MWC teams. My contribution was instrumental in bridging technology, communication, and community during a time of unprecedented global challenges.
